Victorian Department of Health Deputy Secretary Kate Matson says Virgin Australia has confirmed a positive case of COVID-19, who worked while infectious.

The crewmember worked from the October 4 to 6, and six flights in and out of Melbourne were impacted as fellow staff have been deemed close contact.

The affected flights on October 4 were VA219 from Melbourne to Adelaide and VA218 from Adelaide to Melbourne.

There were two flights on October 5, VA827 Melbourne to Sydney and VA808 Sydney to Melbourne.

The last of the impacted flights were VA1593 Melbourne to Newcastle and VA1594 Newcastle to Melbourne on October 6.

Passengers on these flights will be contacted by the relevant health authorities.
