A review into Victoria Police’s response during violent anti-lockdown protests in Melbourne last month has revealed tactical shortcomings – raising concerns about inadequate training.

Ten police officers were injured when protests turned violent in Kew on September 18.

The review – conducted by the Police Association of Victoria – recommended urgent strategic changes to how the force handles demonstrations.
