With NSW’s restrictions soon to ease, new technology has been unveiled to keep beach-goers safe.

With enormous numbers expected to flock to the coast, Surf Life Saving has brought in an additional layer of protection, unveiling the first emergency rescue beacon at Shelly Beach.

The device alerts lifesavers when people need help, with just the push of a button.

There will be 20 beacons rolled out at unpatrolled, high-risk drowning spots across the state.
