Finance Minister Simon Birmingham says Australia is not seeing the type of consequences during last year’s COVID-19 outbreak with an unvaccinated population.

“Whilst we had a completely unvaccinated population, case numbers presented a threat to essentially all Australians,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia.

“Now, with a very heavily vaccinated population and increasingly so, and especially mostly vaccinated amongst the higher risk and most vulnerable cohorts, the health outcomes are a different scenario.

“These are some of the changes that we have to get used to as a country, in making that transition to having COVID in the community but the protections of vaccinations.”
