The IPA’s Daniel Wild says net zero is being “created by and pushed by affluent inner-city and inner suburban elites” who won’t be incurring the costs of the policy.

Research by the Institute of Public Affairs has suggested that net zero hits regional workers three times as hard as city workers.

It comes as Australia is facing increased pressure to sign up to a net zero by 2050 target ahead of the COP26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

Mr Wild discussed the issue with Sky News host Cory Bernardi.
