Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has dismissed Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s calls for more hospital funding – saying he doesn’t know what she’s complaining about as her government’s already receiving more money.

It comes as Premier Palaszczuk demanded more federal funding to the state’s hospitals to cope with the influx of COVID-19 patients upon reopening the border.

The calls were subsequently rejected by the federal government.

“The reality is we have increased hospital funding by over 100 per cent since coming to government, for Queensland,” Mr Frydenberg told Sky News Australia.

“Yet at the same time the Queensland government has increased hospital funding by a fraction of that – about half – and so we’ve got on with the job of providing more funding for Queensland hospitals.

“We would welcome the Queensland government spending a bit more on their hospitals.”
