IEUA NSW and ACT branch Acting Secretary Carol Matthews says it needs to be ensured sufficient COVID-safe measures are adopted in non-government schools.
“I certainly understand that some of the larger independent schools are doing a really good job on reviewing their practices and have been doing so for possibly … over a year,” Ms Matthews told Sky News Australia.
“But I don’t think that‘s across the board.”
She said many smaller independent schools presumably have less resources and look to government advice.
“We’d really like to see government guidelines apply to the non-government sector in terms of issues like ventilation, carbon dioxide monitoring, all those measures.
“Groups such as OzSAGE are putting out recommendations, but the government hasn’t actually even adopted those or strongly recommending it.”
