Queensland Editor Peter Gleeson says the state is absolutely “poll driven” when it comes to decisions on borders.
Four major hospitals in the Sunshine State have issued a ‘code yellow’ alarm yesterday, meaning they have reached almost full capacity despite there being very few COVID -19 cases.
“The jig’s finally up, the reason that the borders are closed in Queensland is because the hospitals can’t cope,” Mr Gleeson said.
“The hospitals won’t be able to cope even though Delta’s not here, this government is absolutely poll driven, so, at the moment, they’re getting information that people are still supportive of the border closures.
“This will be very interesting to see, if Morrison were to go into an early election in December, would it be a referendum in Queensland on opening up Queensland to the rest of the country, to the rest of the world for that matter.”
