The Victorian Opposition is calling for Premier Daniel Andrews to resign if the corruption watchdog is investigating misconduct.

It was revealed IBAC is looking the Premier’s dealings with the United Firefighters Union in relation to a long running probe sparked in 2019.

The IBAC investigation into the UFU – known as Operation Richmond – has explored the union’s dealings with the Andrews government and questioned several witnesses in secret hearings.

Herald Sun National Weekend Political Editor James Campbell told Sky News Australia that IBAC is far more opaque than New South Wales’ ICAC.

“They’ve never officially confirmed the existence of this investigation,” he said.

“Until they either charge someone or they start holding public hearings, it’s impossible for anyone to say with any certainty who is … at the centre of what they’re looking at.”
