Brexit leader Nigel Farage says the Ashes cricket series is “doomed” because of how “authoritarian” Australia has become amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Farage said although there are “major sporting events taking place” around the world, the English cricket team has expressed concerns about the harsh requirements in place for Australian sporting events.
“Teams are flying around the world; some normality has returned to the world – apart from Australia,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“If I was a professional cricketer, I wouldn’t go near Australia right now.
“I think what you’ll see is most of our senior players will say to hell with it, we’re just not gonna go.”
