Liberal MP Tim Smith says he wants the Andrews government to “give people some hope” by committing to a reopening date in a similar way to the NSW government.

Mr Smith said he does not have a “great degree of confidence” Victorians will get their lives back once 80 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated.

“If you look at NSW, Gladys Berejiklian, when she was premier, and I have no doubt the new premier will have the same view, but on the 1st of December, that’s it … no harsh restrictions, we’re getting back to normal,” he told Sky News host Peta Crelin.

“And what we’re seeking from the Andrews government, to give people some hope, is a similar commitment.”
