Severe restrictions have been imposed on South Australia’s second largest city over concerns a COVID positive mother misled authorities and had been in Melbourne.
The restrictions will last for at least seven days as authorities try to piece together the movements of the woman at the centre of the COVID scare.
The mother of four was flown from Mt Gambier to Adelaide for hospital treatment – after initially telling authorities she had been visiting family inside the border bubble in Casterton, Victoria.
But an apparent memo to staff from the CEO of the Casterton memorial hospital claims the woman’s back story is a ‘non-truth’ and that she had been in Melbourne.
As a consequence, Mt Gambier, Grant and Wattle Range LGAs are now under tighter COVID restrictions.
These are: One person per four square metres, community sport banned, Home gatherings capped to two extra people, Wedding and funeral numbers capped at 10 people.
