Donald Trump has declared he could “beat” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the primaries like he would “beat everyone else” if he chose to throw his hat in the ring for president in 2024.
The former president joined Yahoo Finance’s Adam Shapiro and discussed the possibility of running for the top job again at the next election.
“If you faced a Republican like Ron DeSantis in the primaries, what would it take for you to beat him?” Adam Shapiro asked.
“Well number one I don’t think I will face him because I don’t see that if I did it,” Mr Trump replied.
“I think most people would drop out, I think he would drop out.
“If I faced him I’d beat him like I would beat everyone else frankly.”
Mr Trump then boasted about his polling data where in many cases the former president had been the favourite to win the Republican vote.
However a new poll in September carried out by John Bolton Super Pac had the former president and Ron DeSantis neck and neck.
The poll found 26.2 per cent of people voted for Mr Trump and 25.2 per cent voted for the Florida governor.
Neither Mr Trump or Governor DeSantis have officially announced if they’d run for the top job.
