Health Minister Greg Hunt says Australia has increased its supply of sotrovimab, a novel monoclonal antibody.

“Australia has increased its order of sotrovimab from 7,700 to 31,000 doses and we have already secured new supplies in countries,” Mr Hunt said at a media conference on Monday.

“So, we’ve now had 15,000 extra courses of sotrovimab which is a novel monoclonal antibody, in other words it helps activate the body and its immune system to fight against COVID, it doesn’t prevent it, it reduces the impact.

“It’s a critical breakthrough medicine.”
