Sky News host James Morrow says NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance’s decision to quit state politics and run for the federal seat of Gilmore “adds a huge level of complexity” for whoever replaces Gladys Berejiklian as premier.

“This puts them into minority government and has them facing a by-election,” he said.

“We don’t know exactly when he is going to be leaving his seat but nominations for the preselection for that seat of Gilmore state on November 1, so presumably he’s got to get out of state parliament by then.”
