The video, which began circulating on Wednesday night, showed a man talking to an officer inside the famous train station as other members of Victoria Police stood by.
An additional officer then walked over to the pair and grabbed the member of the public from behind, forcing him to the floor.
A loud thud was heard as the man’s head made contact with the floor.

“Victoria Police are aware of a video circulating on social media depicting an arrest at Flinders Street Station,” a spokeswoman told Skynews.com.au.
“The exact circumstances around the incident are yet to be determined and are under investigation by both Transit Safety Division and Professional Standards Command.”
Victoria Police are also asking for the man in the video to come forward.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, including the person who took the footage and the person depicted in the vision, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” the spokeswoman said.
