NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has refused to commit to a date for reopening the economy despite modelling showing the 70 per cent vaccination target will be reached by early October.

Presently, 55 per cent of the state’s eligible population has been fully vaccinated with the double dose rate rising by approximately one per cent every day.

“I haven’t said we’re opening up on October 11, that’s the media assumption,” Minister Hazzard told reporters on Thursday.

It comes as NSW is seeing a high uptake in vaccination amongst 12 to 15-year-olds with 28 per cent of the cohort now vaccinated with one dose.
