Aircraft giant Boeing will build an advanced manufacturing facility near Toowoomba’s Wellcamp Airport.

The company will be involved in manufacturing uncrewed planes for the Royal Australian Air Force and expects to export the Loyal Wingman aircraft to multiple countries.

The planes will feature maroon-painted interiors stamped with ‘Made In Queensland’.

“It is the first time Boeing is setting up this type of facility outside of North America,” Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

“So not only is this a Queensland first, it’s an Australian first as well.

“This is happening because we’ve had a strong health response and now we’re looking at diversifying our economy.”

The Boeing project is expected to create more than 300 jobs.
