Prime Minister Scott Morrison seems to be in “lockstep” with the United States on the AUKUS partnership despite growing tensions sparked by it, according to Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen.

“They expected there would be this kind of backlash and they’re not all too phased about it because they think that they made the right call,” Ms Nielsen said.

“And the real test of this is going to be how the UK acts, they’re a much closer strategic alliance to France.

“I mean France does have a history of this, they withdrew their ambassadors from Australia before in 1995 because we protested them doing nuclear testing in the Pacific and so it’s not entirely unexpected in this context.”
