NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has announced the Albury and Lismore LGAs will go into lockdown from 6pm tonight for at least seven days after recording multiple positive cases of COVID-19.

It comes as Albury recorded two COVID cases, Lismore just one. All cases are unlinked.

“That lockdown will occur from 6:00pm today. Health has made a decision that the period of lockdown initially will be seven days.

“The reason for that is to try and get a handle on what exactly is going on in the local areas.

“In the normal course, more often than not, Health determines it will be 14 days but at this case, looking at the issues, Health has determined that seven days will be appropriate.

Mr Hazzard warned, however, that it could be longer.
