Victorian Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson says opposition leader Anthony Albanese “can’t have it both ways” when it comes to the AUKUS pact, which will see Australia secure nuclear-powered submarines.
Mr Albanese has endorsed the new submarines but has also asked to be involved in future government decisions made in the area.
“All I can say is we’ve seen more of each way Albanese in operation,” she told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“On one hand, he is congratulating the government for this agreement and for our vision, and then on the other hand, he’s critical.
“So, I don’t really think Australians can have a great deal of trust in what Anthony Albanese says in any of these matters. You can’t have it both ways.”
