The perception the US is not as close an ally to Australia anymore is a case of “inattention” rather than any affirmative action from the Biden administration, says former Chief of Staff to Donald Trump Mick Mulvaney.

It comes as The White House confirmed Prime Minister Scott Morrison will make his first official visit since Joe Biden took office for an in-person Quad summit on September 24.

“It’s simply because they’ve been overwhelmed by other events,” he told Sky News Australia.

“Again, it’s hard to run a government and I’m glad the prime minister is coming because it would give President Biden a chance to simply reaffirm the strong connection.”
