Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan has said he thinks South Australia may regret reopening to eastern states when vaccine quotas are met.

The premier said he is willing to close the border to SA if necessary even after the 80 per cent double vaccination target is achieved.

He is attempting to achieve a rate of 90 per cent full vaccination.

National Cabinet has given the state its approval to trial home quarantine for both interstate and international travellers, which is likely to occur early next month.
