The state recorded 1,290 local coronavirus cases on Monday –  which surpassed the previous record of 1,218 cases set just one day earlier. 
The Premier said more than 80 per cent of the state’s local coronavirus cases continue to be contracted in western and southwestern Sydney, while western NSW “remains a concern”.
She also made a grim prediction that October will be “the worst month” for NSW’s intensive care units amid the relentless outbreak of the highly contagious Delta strain.
