The tide is “finally turning” and people are waking up to the toll of lockdowns, according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.
It comes as polling has revealed Australians are more concerned about the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on mental health, jobs, and businesses, than they are about the virus itself.
The YouGov poll, commissioned by News Corp, revealed the majority of respondents in locked down New South Wales and Victoria said their families had suffered in the past three months.
Ms Panahi noted this “change in public sentiment” follows “devastating data” about the harm being inflicted on children during lockdown.
“Australians are in greater numbers becoming acutely aware of the crippling cost of draconian stay-at-home orders, business and schools closures, and enforced isolation from loved ones,” she said.
“Lockdowns are not and never were a cure, they were only a costly delaying tactic.”
