It is “very notable” that Australia “barely got a phone call” amid the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, according to Sky News Washington correspondent Annelise Nielsen.
Ms Nielsen said Democrats were not assessing “the implications that this has for their allies around the world”.
“It’s very notable Australia has barely got a phone call in all of this, despite us fighting with the US in every major conflict since World War Two and a couple before that as well,” she told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“That’s going to have long-running impacts, and it’s notable that this is coming on the eve of the ANZUS alliance’s 70th anniversary.
“I think it’s fair to say this is starting to become a low point in our alliance with the United States.”
