Former Afghan citizen Mina Zaki says she worked “around the clock” with Australian Defence Force and former members of the Afghan National Army to help evacuate families from Afghanistan.

Ms Zaki played a pivotal role in helping evacuate people out of Afghanistan, by acting as an over-the-phone translator alongside Australian Defence Force troops who were rescuing Afghan citizens from Taliban rule in the country.

She said the experience was “heartbreaking” and “extremely stressful” – however she was “proud to have had the opportunity to do my bit”.
