Qantas CEO Alan Joyce says reopening Australia’s international borders upon reaching an 80 per cent vaccination rate is something state premiers “need to deliver on” as they’ve “committed to the general population”.
Mr Joyce’s comments come as Qantas launches an ambitious flight plan, which aims to have international travel resumed by Christmas.
“Every Premier has signed up to the national plan at National Cabinet – and they’ve all agreed this is the way to go,” Mr Joyce told Sky News Australia.
“My question to them is: if we don’t open up at the 80 per cent, what are we looking for?
“Are we going to remain a hermit nation forever? I don’t think that would be fair to the population.”
