A United States airstrike has targeted an ISIS-K planner in Eastern Afghanistan.

The retaliatory hit targeted the group which claimed responsibility for the August 26 bombing outside Kabul’s airport.

The blast is believed to have killed 170 people, including 13 American service members.

A CENTCOM statement says the drone strike took place in the Nangarhar Province and initial indications are the target was killed.

There are no known civilian causalities from the American counter-strike.
