“We have to be able to allow people who want to get married to get married,” he told press on Saturday.
“I want people to know that if you do wish to get married, you certainly can as of Friday of this week.”
Starting at 12:01am on September 3, weddings will be allowed to take place with up to five guests in addition to a photographer and marriage officiant.

Mr Hazzard said the details would be worked over the next week and claimed the decision was “balanced” despite escalating COVID-19 cases.
“For a number of weeks now we have had no capacity for people to get married,” he claimed.
The announcement comes after New South Wales reported record-breaking vaccine numbers and COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
Over 150,000 people received the jab while 1035 people tested positive for COVID-19.
