NSW Health’s Dr Jeremy McAnulty says there have been two COVID-related deaths recorded overnight.
Dr McAnulty said one of the deaths involved a woman in her 70s from Sydney’s Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District who died at Nepean Hospital after acquiring the infection there earlier this month.
“This is the fourth death linked to the outbreak at the hospital.
“She had received two doses of COVID vaccine and also had some serious underlying diseases.
Dr McAnulty also said a woman in her 80s from Western Sydney has died at Westmead Hospital and was not vaccinated.
“We send our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of these two people.”
He said there have now been 83 COVID-related deaths in the state since 16 June, and 139 in total for the pandemic.
