“The misinformation is certainly around deterring people from effectively having … a vaccination by suggesting that there is some negative aspects of being vaccinated in terms of your fertility,” he said.
“I just want to confirm that the most senior health advisory service in Australia has confirmed absolutely that there is no evidence whatsoever that a woman’s fertility or a man’s fertility would be in any way affected by having the vaccine.”
Instead, Mr Hazzard claimed it was possible the vaccine could improve a couple’s chances of falling pregnant by reducing the chances of ongoing side effects from contracting the virus.

“A strong point though that was made to me when I was enquiring about the evidence is that particularly young women and girls who are contemplating having a child should understand that if they don’t have the vaccine, and they do get the virus,” he added.
“They may suffer from long COVID or from symptoms that would actually make it more difficult to be able to have children,” he said.
“The strong message here is don’t believe what you are seeing in the social media.
“Don’t believe what is on some of these sites that indicate that the vaccines will cause any difficulty in you getting pregnant.
“It certainly won’t. In fact, it’s the opposite.”
Growing outbreak in NSW’s west is ‘concerning’ but ‘resources are there’
NSW reported a record-breaking 1,035 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday alongside record-breaking vaccine figures.
Two additional deaths were also reported overnight: a woman in her 70s from Sydney’s Nepean-Blue Mountains district and a woman in her 80s from Western Sydney.
Despite the rise in cases Mr Hazzard announced the end of a ban on weddings in NSW with ceremonies allowed to go ahead with five guests from Friday, September 3.
The ban on receptions will continue with the Health Minister claiming they were a threat to the public and could turn into “massive super-spreader events.”
