Sky News contributor Leisa Goddard says the United States’ bungled evacuation of troops and Afghan civilians from Kabul is a “crisis of Biden’s making”.
13 US Marines and scores of civilians are dead after two bombs exploded at the Abbey Gate just outside Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport on Thursday local time.
“This is a crisis of Biden’s making; it is unfathomable to comprehend how badly he has handled this,” Ms Goddard told Sky News host Gary Hardgrave.
“Announcing that you were going to withdraw your troops on September 11, the 20th anniversary, I think was just inviting trouble.”
Ms Goddard said the recapture of Kabul had terrorist organisations around the world “cheering”.
“Jihadists around the world must have been cheering because it was their victory,” she said.
“All we’ve seen is bloodshed and misery and people so desperate that theyre standing in water up to their waste which is in sewerage.
“And now for the bombs to be detonated, they were warned that a terrorist attack was likely … it’s just diabolical.”
