Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has sent a heated question to her successor Jen Psaki – asking her if she can still describe the evacuation operation out of Afghanistan as “anything but a success”.

“An obvious question for Jen Psaki,” Ms McEnany tweeted.

“You said the evacuation out of Afghanistan could not be described as “anything but a success,” do you stand by that assessment?”

The comments come after a twin terror attack on Kabul’s international airport left 72 people dead including at least 13 American troops.

On Wednesday Fox News reporter Peter Doocy questioned Jen Psaki on whether there was a chance some evacuees out of Afghanistan coming to the United States might have ties to extremist groups.

“We have a stringent vetting process that includes background checks,” the press secretary responded.

“[T]his is now on track, Peter, to be largest airlift in US history … so no, I would not say that is anything but a success.”
