The Victorian Transport Association’s Peter Anderson says freight workers are “fighting a losing battle” in trying to have people understand the value of supply chains and making sure they’re secure.

It comes as freight workers are yet to be classified as ‘essential’ by the Commonwealth.

“We’re looking for the industry to be declared as an essential service while we’re in a state-of-emergency,” Mr Anderson told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“To ensure that we’re at the table.”
