Opposition leader Anthony Albanese’s criticisms of the slow vaccine rollout will “run out of puff” as vaccination rates increase, says former Victorian Liberal Party President Michael Kroger.
“I think by the end of the year, Albanese’s two good lines are probably going to run out of puff as the vaccination rates increase dramatically,” he told Sky News Australia.
“As these vaccinations rates get to the highest levels and the place starts to open up, people forget very quickly that there was a slow rollout.”
Instead, Mr Kroger predicts the upcoming federal election will be fought on the economy.
“The electorate moves along fairly quickly and I think January to April next year is going to be about the Australian economy and interest rates and who best to reel the economy,” he said.
